Dave Porter (Minorities s.c.)
is one of three International DJ’s playing our rally this year. Ok, we have to pay him but he’s worth it! Dave, a Mod since the 70’s, is a pure professional when it comes to creating the electric atmosphere that he created last year and every year at our rally. He’s been with us all along the way from our very first rally in a pub garden, so we’re not going to boot him out just yet! Dave is also well know for his world wide internet radio shows on Scooterist Radio, that litrally does broadcast scooterist music all over the world. If there’s one DJ you want to be on the floor with it’s Dave Porter, don’t say you weren’t warned if you miss him.
Robin Quartermain (Chelmsford s.c.)
Robin started DJ’ing in the early 80’s and has DJ’d many scooter rallies and events across the country including the world famous Camber Sands Scooter Rally (RIP). Robin’s also DJ’d the Caulkheads venue on the Isle of Wight International Scooter Rally, the Quadrophenia nights at the Hamersmith Apollo and is the tour DJ for From The Jam. Music policy? If its in the box, he will play it!
Olas Boss Sound System (Olas s.c.)
“When the needle drops, the bullshit stops!” It’s as simple as that really, with not a lot more to say. Gary will again be hosting his own Reggae & Ska room and playing all those heavy heavy Ska, Trojan and Reggae sounds as he does at Scooter events all across the UK, in Ireland and in Spain. This year however Olas has bought in a very special guest going by the name of Mr Melvyn Goodyer, who will be taking over the decks on the Saturday night to bring you some blessed rasta tunes. If you can’t wait until our rally to hear the Boss man spin some vinyl then check out the Olas Boss Reggae Show at Channel Radio every Wednesday from 9.00 till midnight and every Thursday, midnight till 2.00am.
Dave’s been DJing at rallies across Europe for many years, including
Beatsugar, Cobblesoul, Oysterboom, Dirty Weekender, The Sun Run, Paddy Smiths Rally and more. Dave knows just how to create that party atmosphere and will be running the 4th Music room at our rally ‘The School Disco’. Those of you that visited the school disco room last year will now know why they call the man Disco Dave! Make sure you check the room out because if it’s anything like last year, it’s likely to be messy!
He needs no introduction if you’re into the soul or northern scene. Danny’s experienced in DJ’ing some of the biggest and best rallies around, like Camber, Shed, Scorchio, Tenerife to name a few and that’s why we wanted him at ours. If you can’t wait until our rally you can always check out the KTF Soul Club where Danny is resident DJ.
AKA The Major, is that odd rockabilly looking bloke on a Vespa. Andrew was a regular DJ at the Camber Sands northern room, where he judged the dancing compertitions. He also DJ’d Soul at The Crown on the Isle of Wight, and High Rollers Scooter Rally in Las Vegas, as well as running his own popular nights Tower Full Of Soul, Downtown Meltdown and Best Foot Forward. He’s earned a reputation for playing a broad range of soul, stompers, 70s and classic rally northern favourites, with an emphasis on RnB dancers. He says he’s delighted to be invited back for a second year at the Big 7 scooter rally and we’re delighted to have him back. Just remember though, don’t feed him rum after midnight and keep him away from the livestock.
John Stevenson Jnr
A member of the Wimbledon Scooter Alliance and Djing on the scene since the early eighties. Gigs include resident DJ at club Majorca, Funky Nation part of the legendary Ronnie Scotts, MODnSOUL and many other events around the south of England . John is sure you get you dancing with his mix of Northern Soul, Motown, Crossover Atlantic Soul & RnB and surprise floor fillers. John says “If it makes you dance, I’ll play it”.
A DJ since the early 70’s playing Motown, Soul, Funk & Reggae/Ska all over the place and he still having the same Roadie. D J Retro also gets around the Vintage dance scene playing Swing, Cool R&B, Hot Jazz/Blues. After having such great feedback last year we were delighted in getting him back again in the Old School Disco room this year. Join D J Retro for a 70’s 80’s and 90’s boogie – It’ll be sure to get messy!
Karl Beeston (South Kent Saints s.c.)
Well known for his Soultime gigs at the British Volunteer in Ashford Kent and Soul sessions and scooter do’s around the south, Karl has the ability to seamlessly play superb soul sounds, that will make you wanna dance! Karl’s a top DJ and an all round nice guy… or so he thinks!
It took us three years to get the DARKSIDE to play at our rally and now it’s going to happen. Names and photographs of DARKSIDE DJ’s are not disclosed for security reasons.
