We will have six live bands playing over the weekend of 10-12 June 2022, playing original and cover music plus an acoustic session on Saturday lunchtime.
The Beat, Senior Class, Spring Tide Cavalry, Ska-per, The Signatures, The Vinyls and Carl Morris, hopefully there’s something for everyone.
The Vinyls are a four-piece indie and rock n roll cover band from Merseyside. Started by Keith Smith in Bromborough, Wirral, in 2010, the band have steadily built up a dedicated and noisy following since that time playing pubs, clubs, events and festivals across the North West of England. We thought we’d bring them down South and we hope you enjoy them!
As you’ll probably know, the Signatures have established themselves as the UK’s leading live Northern Soul Act. Bringing their own brand of power and energy creating a true balance between authentic but modern in sound, guaranteeing to get an audience out on the floor. It’s the bands second time at big 7 but this time they accompanied with Stefan Taylor and Georgia Crandon, both awesome artists in their own right. They’re bound to have the tent buzzing, so don’t miss them!
The English Beat
Although The Original Beat split in 1982 with Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger going their different ways, both continued to front their own versions of the band. Time ultimately healed wounds and Dave and Roger shared the stage many times again despite living on separate continents. Sadly, Ranking Roger passed away in early 2019, but Dave has continued to tour the USA and the UK.
We’ve been trying to get the band at our rally for five long years and actually got them booked for 2020 and 2021, but Covid put an end to both of those dates. We’re thrilled to have them at our rally this year, as their first gig on their 2022 UK Tour
With mod-culture meaning different things to different people, for Springtide Cavalry it always comes back to the music, the lifestyle, the clothes and the appreciation for ‘modernism’. Since 2008 this three-piece indie rock band from Kent have been bashing out classic original material influence by the likes of Ocean Colour Scene, Oasis, The Who, Paul Weller and they don’t look like stopping anytime soon. Great band, we’re sure you’ll love them!
Ska-Per came together in 2019 as a fusion of two bands from Bexhill and Hastings, The Two Tones and The Vespbrettas and since then they’ve been rocking every venue they’ve gigged at with their high energy two tone / ska sets. If this band can’t get a party started then no other band can. A great band and a great way to end the weekend’s live music sessions.
Senior Class is a band with a focus on unearthing the sounds of the 60s and beyond, tipping the hat off to influences as diverse as garage, surf, beat, and pretty much everything in between! Currently, Senior Class performs a range of cover songs, including numbers by bands like The Sonics, The Yardbirds, Chuck Berry and add some original tunes to their set list as well.
